About me
Polly Hammerton
BSc / PGDip CBT
As an undergraduate I gained a degree in Psychology but spent the early part of my career working in the corporate world. I then made a return to my roots and completed a two-year postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Aside from private practice, I have also worked on a voluntary basis for both charity and NHS organisations. I am experienced at working with adults with depression and a range of anxiety issues.
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and adhere to their standards of conduct, performance and ethics.
I am regularly supervised by an experienced CBT therapist and only use protocols and techniques that have been thoroughly researched.
In recent years I have trained and qualified in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). This form of therapy is a great addition to my practice and helps me to adapt my support around my clients' needs. I am a member of EMDR Association UK and have regular supervision sessions with an accredited EMDR supervisor.
As the owner of Heatons Therapy I am committed to working together with individuals, providing a safe and supportive place for them to make positive changes for the future.
